A STOURPORT man who became abusive and smashed a fire alarm after being caught stealing from a Kidderminster store has escaped custody.
It was Anthony Bradbury's 21st conviction for theft when he appeared for sentence at Worcester Crown Court.
But Judge Anthony King imposed a 12-month community rehabilitation order after hearing that Bradbury had taken steps to control his drink problem.
Bradbury, 38, formerly of Broomy Close, Stourport, and now living in a caravan at The Gables yard, Stourport, pleaded guilty to stealing a PlayStation game from Dixons in Vicar Street.
Miss Carol Knotts, defending, said Bradbury had been to Alcoholics Anonymous to control his drinking.
He now had a supportive partner.
