AN interesting point was raised by Paul Keetch during the row over the pension rights of Anna Homsi, partner of SAS hero Brad Tinnion.
The MoD had been refusing to pay Ms Homsi a military pension on the grounds she was not married to Bombardier Tinnion, killed in a rescue mission in Sierra Leone last year.
This was despite the fact they lived together for the best part of a decade and have a child, Georgia.
This week the MoD finally agreed to cough up offering Ms Homs £250,000.
But it is still not as much as she is entitled to under normal pension rules.
And the MoD insists her case is a one-off and that it will not do the same for other unmarried mothers.
Hereford MP Mr Keetch is not happy about this and it seems he has very good grounds for thinking his colleagues at the Commons will agree.
Because they will face charges of rank hypocrisy if they do anything else!
He said: MPs voted to allow their unmarried partners the same pension rights as husbands and wives. Our Armed Forces personnel deserve no less.
Surely, he has a good point?
