A WOMAN has told a jury how a man who sent her a text phone message later raped her on a date.

She claimed Mark Sallis arranged to meet her in an exchange of calls, then picked her up in his works van and took her to a house to watch a video.

Afterwards, she alleged he had sex with her for 20 minutes against her will and ignored her pleas to stop.

She told Worcester Crown Court yesterday she just "froze" when Sallis made advances towards her.

But Sallis, aged 39, of Forest Gate, Evesham, insisted in a police interview they had sex by consent.

He denies rape.

Gareth Walters, prosecuting, said Sallis sent the text message arranging the meeting two days before he picked the woman up.

They spent the evening of November 28 last year watching a video.

Sallis drank two bottles of lager and the woman drank half a bottle.

Mr Walters said Sallis gave her a peck on the cheek "then suddenly changed" and moved closer to her on a sofa.

The defendant ignored her protests and allegedly told her: "You'll be all right, I know you will."

The woman's mother noticed she was upset when she arrived home and alerted police.

Sallis was arrested in the early hours and claimed he had stopped when the woman told him to stop.

He said she never got upset but had commented: "You'll regret this in the morning."

The trial continues.
