CHILDREN at a Worcester school are going wild since the opening of their new nature trail.

Pupils of Cherry Orchard Primary can thank a group of Prince's Trust students from Worcester College of Technology for the new trail at their Timberdine Close school.

"The team deserves an enormous amount of credit for its hard work," said head teacher, Jeremy Harwood.

"Our existing trail was overgrown, and although it's supposed to be wild, the children could hardly get into it."

The new trail includes two bird boxes and incorporates anthills and animal homes buried deep in the foliage.

It took the Prince's Trust volunteers more than two-weeks to clear the overgrown area and build the new path.

Co-ordinator Doug New said the students, who walked, rowed and swam to raise the £500 needed for the trail, had put "100 per cent" into the project.

"Their aim is to be of benefit to the community," he said, adding that the project would also help the students complete their college course.

Any money left over will go to Children in Need.
