THE heat will be on when a fire service band and a tribute act help raise money for the families of those who died in the American terrorist attack.
Warren Midgley, a firefighter at Kidderminster Fire Station, has teamed up with Upfront Entertainments Agency to organise the charity gig for the relatives of firefighters who were killed during the September 11 tragedy.
Temperatures will soar when Mr Midgley's band Heat & Smoke belt out Commitments and Blues Brothers songs, and girl band Destiny Supreme play Destiny's Child and The Supremes smash hits.
"It all came about when Brian Davies, who runs Upfront Entertainments, came in to Kidderminster Fire Station and said he wanted to do some fund-raising," said Mr Midgley.
"I told him I had a band and he told me to sort the posters out for the event."
Mr Davies is the lead singer of Heat & Smoke, which consists of 11 firefighters, clerical staff and fire officers from Worcester, Evesham, and Kidderminster.
The band is a charity group whose members charge around £500 for a gig and give the cash to good causes.
Money raised by Heat & Smoke is normally donated to The National Benevolent Fund, a charity which looks after the orphans of British firefighters or retired fire fighters.
The charity night, which takes place at The Mirage nightclub, Dixon Street, Kidderminster, will be donating half the proceeds raised to families of the American disaster and half to The National Benevolent Fund.
Mr Davies is urging generous shops, business and individuals to donate items for the two-hour auction being held at the event on Wednesday, November 14.
Some of the auction goodies up for grabs include a luxury trip on a cruise speedboat, a heated motorbike jacket and a colour television.
Destiny Supreme will play a 30-minute slot in between the auction, which takes place from 8pm to 10pm, and Heat & Smoke will take to the stage at 10pm.
Tickets cost £5 and can be obtained from Kidderminster Fire Station, Castle Road or Mirage nightclub, Dixon Street.
