SAFER speed limits, campaigns to save village shops and inflatable earth balloons are some of the projects that have been drawn up by innovative council chiefs.
Aqua Vitae 21 is a project to restore ponds throughout Worcestershire and includes a reservoir at Malvern and ancient fishponds at Inkberrow. It is just one of the 21 projects to be found on www.worcestershire.gov.uk.
Others include Can Doers which features Cherry Orchard and Perryfields, two day centres in Worcester that help the environment by recycling cans and paper for supermarkets.
Liz Alston, the county council's sustainability officer, said the stories demonstrated the success in building a sustainable future for everyone.
"This hasn't cost us any money but it does show everyone exactly what is going on," she said.
"The project demonstrates best practice and will help anybody else who wants to set up a scheme or get involved in an existing one."
Each story includes background information, details of who is involved, plans for the future and a contact for further information.
Councillor John Smith, portfolio holder for environment and sustainability, said the stories highlighted the good work taking place in the county.
"They emphasise what the county council's role is all about - that is, improving the quality of life for people now and for future generations."
The success stories are due to be launched on Thursday, November 8 at Bishops Wood Environment Centre, Stourport at 1.30pm.
