CALLOUS robbers made off with £300 and a pension book after conning their way into an elderly woman's house.
Two men posing as water company officials gained entry to the house in Keats Place, Kidderminster, and while one man distracted her in the kitchen, the other made a search of the upstairs and stole cash and a pension book.
Inspector Dave Jones, of Kidderminster police, said: "We are advising people who receive unannounced callers; if in doubt, don't let them in."
He said householders should ask for identification and phone the firm represented by the caller for confirmation of their identity
The incident happened at about 8pm on Monday. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Kidderminster Police on 01562 820888.
