Malvern Town and Wellington fought out a 1-1 draw in the West Midlands League Premier Division last night.
Town could have no complaints as they failed to capitalise on Lee Hooper's first minute strike. The 16-year-old drilled a shot home from close range for his third goal in as many games.
Town looked always the more likely to extend their lead, Adam Higgins rattling the crossbar with a 25-yard drive while Ian Stevenson's looping shot was tipped over by the Wellington 'keeper.
Wellington posed more of a threat in the second half, and 'keeper Dave Alden twice rescued Town with fine saves, before in the 80th minute a swift break into the Town penalty area saw a fierce cross turned into his own goal by a despairing Sean Davies.
Wellington had a man sent off late on for a foul on the tricky Chris Thomas, but a draw was a fair result.
Pershore Town let a 2-0 half-time lead slip away to draw 2-2 with Alvechurch in the Midland Combination Premier Division.
They took a 13th-minute lead when Gary Crewe crossed and Paul Court's effort was not held by keeper Shaun Hayes and ran over the line.
Soon after Jon Gregory headed home Dean Emerson's cross to make it 2-0.
But Peter Robinson pulled one back on the hour, and six minutes from time goalkeeper Neil Turner was penalised for a foul. He saved Robinson's spot-kick but was penalised for stepping forward, and Robinson made no mistake from the retake.
Pegasus Juniors drew 1-1 at Highworth Town in the Cherry Red Records Hellenic League Premier Division.
Pegasus took a second-half lead when after some neat inter-play between Martin Powell and Scott Jackson, Neal Hotchkiss forced the ball home at the far post to score his first competitive goal for 18 months.
But the home side hit back with 20 minutes left when Paul Cooper collected the ball in the centre circle and passed to Paul Moss who beat the advancing Andrew Watkins.
