Barnt Green Spartak (0) 3
Wilncote Sports (1) 1
Midland Combination Division Two
SPARTAK went top of the table with this hard fought victory over a strong Sports side.
Spartak started the game well but both sides found it hard to create any clear-cut chances.
It was Wilncote who took the lead on 40 minutes when a mistake by Spartak keeper Mark Kelly led to a Sports forward having the simple task of netting from two yards out.
Spartak responded with good attacking play and came close to levelling through Simon Campbell.
The second half saw Spartak push forward and they were level on 52 minutes when Campbell blasted home from five yards out.
Wilncote were reduced to ten men on 68 minutes when a Sports centre half threw a punch at Mark Christie, who was making his debut after switching from Earlswood Town.
It was Campbell who scored again on 79 minutes when he fired home a unstoppable rocket from six yards out after good work by Marvin Gorman from a corner kick.
Jay Rose came off the bench and scored his seventh of the season on 84 minutes after latching on to a Kieron Holland pass to make it 3-1.
Rose may have played his last game of the season as he has a six-month contract working away on the south coast.
Spartak: Kelly, Holland, Uddin, Pinfield, Johnston, Hanif, Miah, S Brown, Fuller, Campbell, Wales. Subs: Rose, Christie, Gorman.
