GARAGES in Bromsgrove are stocking up on environmentally-friendly fuels after motorists were offered incentives to go green.
The Powershift programme is a new Government incentive which pledges funding to help car owners convert their vehicles to use clean, low-duty Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).
Conversion to LPG was only previously available in cars up to a year old, but now the grant will be offered on selected small vehicles up to five years old.
Conversion costs between £1,300 and £1,800, although the Government grant offers to reimburse up to half of the money back.
Green garages in Bromsgrove have been quick to stock the low cost fuel including Clearway Taxis, in Meadow Road, Catshill, and Autogas Limited, in Worcester Road, Upton Warren.
