BROMSGROVE police were back in Romsley last night, one week after the body of Anthony Kendrick was found in the back of his car.
Officers carried out checks along Putney Lane to see if anyone who uses the lane regularly was around at the time of the incident that caused the death of the 58-year-old from Tenby, in Wales.
They were in the lane between 10pm and 2am last night and carried out stop checks on passing motorists and pedestrians.
Mr Kendrick was found dead in his blue Renault 21 Savanna Estate last Wednesday, October 31, at around 2.30am by a passing police patrol.
Recent forensic tests show a fire started in the car and there was evidence of petrol on the seats and the floor of the vehicle.
A post mortem revealed that Mr Kendrick died as a result of smoke inhalation.
DI Paul Knight, from Redditch and Bromsgrove police, said: "We are still in the early stages with this investigation and have been keeping in close contact with Mr Kendrick's family and the police in Mid-Wales.
"The inquest into the death was opened on Monday in Stourbridge and has been adjourned pending further investigations.
"We are hoping that our checks will gather more information on Mr Kendrick's last movements before he died."
