WORKERS were evacuated from a Cofton Hackett car factory when a fire broke out.
More than 40 firefighters, some wearing chemical protection suits, were called out to tackle the blaze at a foundry, in Groveley Lane, part Rover's extensive car factory.
The plant makes aluminium engine blocks and the evacuation was ordered in case toxic fumes were given off.
Crew from Hereford and Worcester fire service and the West Midlands brigade joined forces to bring to blaze under control, which is believed to have involved the area where aluminium engine blocks are produced.
Thermal cameras were used to check whether anyone was still in the 100 by 150 metre building. Fire fighters were at the scene for over two hours last Saturday after the initial call-out carrying out damping down operation.
