THE victims of two world wars, and those who have since died in the service of their country, will be remembered at services and parades in and around Bromsgrove on Sunday.

Poppy sellers have been out and about in and around the district and will be in High Street on Saturday.

Bromsgrove's Poppy Appeal organiser Mary Joy has this week urged everyone to give generously.

She said: "Last year, the Royal British Legion dealt with 300,000 cases of need for help.

"The calls for help are many and varied and not just from old men: many who have served since 1945 are now finding life very difficult."

On Sunday, Bromsgrove's Royal British Legion parade will start from the top of High Street, outside Argos, turn right down Church Street, across Market Street and up Crown Close to St John's Church for the 10.45am service.

Afterwards it will reassemble and stop in Crown Close where wreaths will be laid at the Burma Star Memorial.

Mrs Joy added: "On Poppy Day itself, November 10, we would be delighted to welcome anyone who can spare half-an-hour out of the year to collect to help those to whom we owe so much.

"Poppies and trays will be available at the United Reformed Church Hall, in Windsor Street, all day on Saturday."
