SIX-YEAR-OLD Michael Waller pulled off a masterstroke when he won a competition to design his school's new sign.
The Linthurst First School pupil's work is now proudly displayed at the entrance to the St Catherine's Road site, in Blackwell.
The school received a good response to its call to put pen to paper and, according to headteacher Colin Morris, the governors had a hard time picking a winner.
He said it was very difficult to get something which summed up what the school is about but Michael's design was ideal because it featured a boy and a girl who are happy, friendly and open to new ideas.
Parents who are thinking about sending their children to Linthurst can find out more about the school at a special open evening and morning.
Prospective pupils and parents can visit between 7pm and 9pm on Wednesday November 21 and between 9.30am and 11.30am the next day.
