A CARER from St John's has braved the clippers and had his shoulder-length locks lopped off for Children in Need.
Although the idea only popped into John Roberts head a few days ago, he managed to raise £250 before his shearing at the Wheatsheaf pub, Henwick Road, on Monday night.
Together with a bucketful of punters' contributions, Mr Roberts is now able to hand over the mammoth sum to the worthwhile cause.
"My head is completely bald now," said the 40-year-old.
"A group of my friends did it last year and it was a spur of the moment idea."
Roger's Gents Hairdressers, in St John's, did the deed for Mr Roberts, who looks after his disabled wife at their Himbleton Road home.
"I think Children in Need is a good cause and they need all the money they can get," he said.
