NEW plaques remembering the fallen heroes from both world wars will be fitted to a refurbished Cross of Remembrance outside St Stephen's Church this week.
Redditch Royal British Legion members are preparing for the Remembrance Day parade on Sunday which will culminate in a traditional two-minute silence at the newly refurbished Cross of Remembrance at 11am, followed by a service at St Stephen's Church.
The parade will gather at Easemore Road at 10.40am before marching via Archer Street, Queen Street, Red Lion Street and Grove Street to the Town Hall, Alcester Street, where Mayor Dot Dudley will take the salute.
A Redditch Council spokesman said: "The new plaques, which include the names of those who died in both world wars, will be fitted either today or tomorrow in time for Remembrance Sunday to allow remembrance in the most appropriate way."
The Webheath branch of the Royal British Legion will attend a service of remembrance with the Astwood Bank branch this year rather than at Webheath Village Hall as in previous years.
