HOCKEY: Chaddesley Corbett refused to say die against table-topping Newtown in a bruising 2-0 away defeat in DTZ Midlands League Division Two.
The villagers gave a valiant performance despite some aggressive tactics from the home team.
In an even first half, both sides failed to convert their chances with Elliot Mack and Sam Boden coming close.
Shortly after the break, an injury to key midfielder Matthew Boden proved decisive and Newtown seized the initiative.
Chaddesley keeper Jon Wynn was in outstanding form saving a penalty stroke but was powerless to prevent two late strikes which robbed the plucky villagers a deserved draw.
