AFTER the disappointment of their FA Trophy exit last weekend, Evesham United attempt to get their Dr Martens League Western Division title ambitions back on track on Saturday.
Phil Mullen's men will be bidding to record their first "double" of the season when Blox- wich Town visit Common Road. The Robins got their season off to a flier with a 4-1 win at Town's ground on the opening day.
However, it's been a topsy-turvy time for Mullen's side since although four wins, all without conceding a goal, in their last handful of home matches, is promotion form.
Defensive solidity is crucial to United's hopes of maintaining their place in the title shake-up - a thought not lost on the manager.
"We have got to make sure that we don't concede in the light of current problems in attack," Mullen declared.
"The only guy who looks like scoring at the moment is Phil Preedy so there might be some positional changes up front on Saturday."
Steve Taylor or Andy Hodgetts could both fill a forward role, while benchmate last weekend, Steve Lutz, could also be in line for a recall.
One player who won't be featuring is Shaun Pratt, who is still sidelined with injury.
Mullen stressed the need for hard work both in training and in competitive matches if his players are to continue to make an impact at the right end of the table.
"We've got good players at the club but I will be taking a closer look at things next month if our inconsistent form persists".
Saturday's match is being sponsored by P J Nicholls, Station Road, Pinvin and Grinlec Electrical Contractors, Evesham and the ball is being sponsored by Simcron, West Bromwich.
Evesham will be hoping to remedy their knockout problems on Monday night when they visit Hednesford Town in the first round of the Dr Mar-tens Cup (7.45) - a tie that must be concluded on the night.
United will entertain Ledbury Town in the quarter-finals of the Worcester Royal Infirmary Cup on Tuesday, December 4.
