WE were aware of the new rules that rubbish should not be placed where people could trip over them and cause injury, but on the first day we had just plainly forgot to put it there.
Instead we just left it where it has always been, right outside our front entrance door, six yards from the pavement.
During lunchtime, we noticed that all the other homes had their rubbish collected but ours was still in the same position.
We realised that we should not have put it there when we discovered it untouched, but imagine our utter disgust when upon opening our front door, we found a card left by the collectors to tell us that our rubbish was not in the right place.
They had walked past our rubbish, posted the card and then walked past it again! Why didn't they just leave the card as a reminder and take our rubbish?
I can say that I agree with them making these new rules for the reasons they have given, but now that they do less, aren't we to expect a reduction in the amount we pay for the service?
