Wednesday, October 3: Together with the chairman of Stratford Council, Les Topham, I spoke at the opening of the nature trail on the nature reserve at Ragley Mill Lane.
Children from Alcester Infant School and Alcester Grammar School followed the trail and laid on an exhibition.
Thursday, October 4: I attended the annual Court Leet meeting in the town hall.
Mr Bill Malin was the retiring High Bailiff and the newly elected High Bailiff is David Insull, with Chris Wright as new Low Bailiff.
I would like to extend my personal thanks to Bill Malin for the way he stepped in at short notice owing to the sudden illness of Lawrence Haines. As usual, Bill has done a great job and the town is most grateful.
Thursday, October 11: Together with other councillors, I attended a meeting at Meadow View Residential Home to hear of plans for the new building and the re-locating of the clients and staff.
The next day, I attended a creative writing workshop at Alcester Library for primary school children. It was organised by the county council education department and was very enjoyable.
Saturday, October 13: I was invited to form part of a reception party to receive a time capsule that was being transported to all the dioceses in the country to mark the 125th anniversary of the founding of the Mothers' Union.
The capsule contained information and a mini disc, also a letter from the patron, the Queen, which was read out by Keith Tomlinson, the Town Crier.
That evening, Bob and I attended a concert at the town hall, Leamington Spa, hosted by the chairman of Warwick District Council, Haydn Thomas, for his charity. We were superbly entertained by the Cwm Rhondda Male Voice Choir.
Sunday, October 21: I attended the Shipston Civic Service for the Mayor, Gudrun Berry, at St Edmund's Church.
Sunday, October 28: Bob and I attended the civic service for the chairman of Stratford District Council, Les Topham, at the Church of the Holy Ascension, Mappleborough Green.
Then, in the evening, I was invited to present the awards to the under 14s, Alcester Athletic FC and the Vallet U14s FC at the Trades and Labour Club following their weekend competition. The visitors from France were hosted by relatives and friends of the local club and had a lovely time.
