AFTER the disappointment of their first match of the season - a 4-0 home defeat by Beckford A, Littleton A recorded their third successive 4-0 win at Studley B on Sunday, having previously defeated Moreton and Evesham B.
In the latest Stratford Winter League Division Two match at Studley, Dave Rudge and Andrew Reynolds played some excellent tennis in defeating Studley's first pair of Peter Wersocki and Dean Beers 6-0, 6-3 and the second pairing of Tom Pugh and Ken Sillens 6-2, 6-2.
Littleton's other pairing of Dixie Collins and Frank Meadows defeated Pugh and Sillens 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 after a long match, with the Studley pair saving several match points in the second set and eventually winning the set to level the match.
Collins and Meadows steadied themselves in the third set to win 6-3 to take the match.
In the other rubber against Wersocki and Beers, they played consistently to win 6-4, 6-3 to give Littleton a 4-0 win.
When Littleton entertained Evesham B, Rudge and Sean Witheford were in commanding form in both rubbers.
In the first set of rubbers, the duo had a close first set against Paul Appleyard and Tom Paul , narrowly winning 7-5. They went on to dominate the second for a 6-1 win to seal the match.
Meanwhile, in the other rubber, Collins and Meadows played Phil Baker and Jim Goddard.
Despite some close games, the Littleton pair won the first set 6-1.
In the second, Baker and Goddard established a 5-3 lead but Collins and Meadows then fought back to win four games in a row to win the set 7-5 to take the match honours.
In the second set of rubbers, Rudge and Witheford played some excellent tennis and dominated their clash with Baker and Goddard who failed to take a game.
Collins and Meadows had some close games against Appleyard and Paul but won the first set 6-4 before taking the second 6-3 to give Littleton a 4-0 win.
