HEREFORD'S Robert Weale takes on world indoor pairs partner Jason Greenslade in the quarter-finals of the £64,000 BUPA Open Indoor Bowls Tournament in Blackpool later today.
Greenslade, from Port Talbot, won a sudden death shoot-out to take the scalp of joint world number two Alex Marshall of Scotland in a last 16 clash last night.
Weale, last year's world indoor singles champion, is rated an odds-on favourite to edge out Green-slade and move into the semi-finals.
The winner of the Weale/Green-slade dual will meet the victor of the contest between John Price of Wales, the 2/1 tournament fav-ourite, and Exeter's Ian Bond.
Weale said: "Jason and I have been world pairs partners for the last two years and have become good mates, but all that will have to be put at the back of my mind when we take to the green to do battle.
"In many ways it would be easier to take on a bitter rival rather than a mate, but I will have to psych myself up and get it into my mind that Jason stands between me and a place in the semi-finals of this tournament."
In the other half of the draw England's veteran campaigner Andy Thomson is a hot favourite to see off Australian surprise package Alan Thurlow.
