Catfish Keith, described as the new slide king of the steel guitar, returns to Hunt-ingdon Hall on Tuesday.
For ten years, Catfish and his manager and sound engineer wife Penny Cahill, have been touring America and making 22 overseas tours with a foot-stomping stage show of deep delta blues and American roots music.
Catfish said: "Our only regret when we tour is that we can't bring our dog with us. We have friends back home in Iowa city that look after her but she's like our canine child."
Born in East Chicago in 1962, Catfish Keith first heard blues as a child living in The Harbor, a working-class steel mill town. Following school, he crewed on a sailboat in the Caribbean partnering a lobster diver who, after seeing him swim, dubbed him Catfish-Swimmin'-Around.
After recording his first album, Catfish Blues, at the age of 22, he and his wife created Fishtail Records and recorded another seven albums. In August he released the instrumental album, Fistful of Riffs.
"This new album includes slide guitar pieces as well as finger picking. It has a lot of old-time blues, all done in my own way and my own style," he said.
Tickets are £7.50/£6.50 from 01905 611427.
