The heavy rain last week caused flooding in certain parts of the Redditch area. And although rivers and streams rose very quickly on Friday, they fell just as quickly and no really serious incidents were reported.
Cable faults put a number of telephone lines out of order between Bromsgrove, Redditch and Wythall and Redditch Fire Brigade were called to pump water out of several cellars and to empty blocked ditches which threatened houses.
For a short time on Friday there were 12 inches of water on Birmingham Road just outside Redditch, but by the evening it had subsided.
