HOCKEY: A first loss of the season failed to knock Kidderminster Boundary off the top of DTZ League Midlands Division One.

They were beaten 1-0 at home by Bridgnorth after wasting early chances to score.

Kidderminster should have been three or four ahead inside the first 20 minutes but missed the goal each time.

Bridgnorth had just the one break but scored before half-time.

The home side pressed hard to level the score in the second half but were unable to find the target.

Stuart McIntyre played well in goal in his first game of the season to prevent any further score.

Worcester Norton 5ths 2 Kidderminster 4ths 1

Kidderminster started slowly and soaked up the early pressure from Worcester but fell behind mid-way through the first half.

Skipper Eddie Pietkowicz was injured before half-time and this forced a change in formation for the second half.

It looked to have paid off when the captain received the ball at the top of the D and managed to score.

Worcester tried to reply and late on they managed to score again.

Kidderminster had the chances to equalise but failed to capitalise.

Old Halesonians 4ths 2 Kidderminster 5ths 0

A goal in each half decided the contest between two well-matched teams.

The first half saw some good open hockey as Kidderminster passed well and enjoyed several goal-mouth incidents.

It was a marked improvement following their recent run of defeats.

However, despite this, it was Old Hales who took the lead shortly before half-time when their right winger latched on to a loose ball in the D.

The second half followed a similar pattern with the home side creating chances and David Haywood had an outstanding game in midfield.

Keeper Tony Costello made several important clearances but in the final minutes Old Hales' centre forward slotted in their second.
