POLICE are seeking the owner of an alsatian which savaged a nurse's dog in a Kidderminster park, leaving it with puncture wounds and severe bruising.
The plight of Woodstock, a cavalier king charles spaniel, which was attacked as it played in Baxter Gardens, was highlighted in the Shuttle/Times & News.
It was the fourth time the dog has been savaged by the same alsatian in three years.
Wendy Stobbart, of Shubbery Street, said she had been told by police they could not act unless the dog attacked a person or livestock.
But following a second phone call to the RSPCA, she contacted police again and was told it did appear to be an offence under the Dangerous Dogs Act.
If a dog is attacked in a public place and both owners are present, the owner of the offending animal can be cautioned by police and required to keep their dog muzzled and on a leash.
If they do not comply, their dog can be destroyed.
