FERNDALE Girls U-16s have reached the Open Cup semi-finals for the first time.

They had a comfortable 10-1 win against Tamworth-based Cottage Farm Rangers in the quarter-finals.

Nikki Palmer scored four and Vicki Roberts added a fine hat-trick.

Other scorers were Nicole Allison (two) and Sam Rogers.

Centre-back Faye Beadle was girl of the game for a superb display.

The U-14s were knocked out of the Open Cup at the quarter-final stage in their toughest game yet.

They lost 2-1 to Premiership side Solihull Borough in a tight game which was goal-less at half-time.

Even with a fantastic goal from Stacy Whittal, they lost 2-1 despite some excellent saves from keeper Karla Jenkins.

They return to league action this weekend with a trip to Southam.
