AN eight-year-old Kidderminster schoolboy designed a poster to promote a special church service to commemorate victims of road accidents.
Thomas Harris, of Lea Street First School, had his entry chosen after pupils were invited to design a poster containing details of the service, being held on Sunday. Thomas Harris with his award winning RoadPeace poster.
The service at St Ambrose Church, Kidderminster at 6.30pm, has been arranged by Wyre Forest RoadPeace, which campaigns for safer driving.
Relatives and friends of victims killed in road accidents will be invited to write the names of their loved ones on "oak leaves" so they can be remembered in prayers.
RoadPeace representative Peter Picken said Thomas's winning design had impressed judges.
"The way he used it showed that it was effective and then drew attention to the details of the service, which was, primarily, what we were looking for," said Mr Picken.
"It was quite simple but very effective."
Among the congregation on Sunday will be firefighters, police and ambulance officers, representatives of the Flying Doctor Service, the media and relatives of victims.
The RoadPeace charity was set up in 1992 to offer support to people bereaved as a result of fatal road accidents.
Last year, seven people died and another 64 were seriously injured on Wyre Forest's roads.
Anyone who would like their loved ones remembered at the service can fill in the coupon on this page and send it to: RoadPeace Service, Shuttle/Times and News, Blackwell Street, Kidderminster.
