A TEACHER at a Kidderminster school who contracted TB last week is making a good recovery at home with the help of medical treatment, a top consultant has said.
A health alert was sparked after the member of staff at St John's Middle School was diagnosed with the infectious disease last Tuesday.
Dr Alan Tweddell, consultant in communicable disease control with Worcestershire Health Authority, said between 60 and 70 people had called a special helpline set up by the health authority last Thursday and Friday.
He said the majority of these were from parents of children at the school and most calls were taken on Thursday after the Shuttle/Times & News broke the story in last week's issue.
Dr Tweddell said a screening programme for children at the school began on Wednesday. The results of skin tests would be known next week.
