A £250,000 scheme to bring Cleobury Mortimer's disused market hall back into community use has received a £2,000 boost.
The cash from Shell Britain Better campaign will go towards energy-saving heating and lighting systems for the Grade II listed Victorian building which closed in 1995.
In May, district planning chiefs gave the go-ahead to plans which will re-open the building for community, commercial and civic use. Renovation work is under way.
The new-look hall will include a parish council chamber, a parish office for the use of voluntary organisations and a room for use by playgroups and the Sunday school as well as small social events.
There will also be ICT facilities, offices for two small businesses and a small town museum incorporating the first town criers museum.
