A BIDFORD-based organisation is striving to create a large-scale project to benefit the entire village, writes Helen Clarke.
The Bidford Sports and Community Initiative (BS&CI) wants to create the project to include leisure facilities and a community hall for concerts, bingo and other social events.
The BS&CI, led by Stuart Beare and Eric Wyatt, started after the carnival committee resigned.
It set about talking to local authorities and say it has already amassed about £100,000 in pledges for its community centre.
But this is still a long way from the estimated cost of the proposed centre, which is £1.25 million.
A public meeting will be held after Christmas, possibly at Crawford Memorial Hall, where issues will be discussed.
