Police found a pipe bomb and drugs after they stopped a car in Redditch, Worcester Crown Court was told.
Michael Brown, aged 40, of Daybrook Close, Brockhill, was remanded in custody after pleading not guilty to having an explosive substance.
He also denied possessing cannabis and ecstasy.
Kirsty Webb, 26, of the same address, denied receiving a stolen Mercedes and possessing 723 ecstasy tablets and intending to supply them to another person.
She was also remanded in custody and the trial was fixed for February 11.
