LAST month was Astwood Bank and Cookhill's warmest October for 29 years according to its own climatological voluntary observer.
Derek Payne, of Cookhill, said the average temperature was three degrees centigrade above normal - 13.1 degrees centigrade against 10.1 degrees normal - since he began taking records in the early 1970s.
