A BIDFORD-ON-AVON man was taken into intensive care following a three-car collision on the A425 Daventry Road near Upper Shuckburgh last Friday.
James Smith, the 25-year-old driver of a BMW 318i car, is being treated for serious head and chest injuries at Northampton General Hospital, where he is in a comfortable and stable condition.
The driver of one of the other cars, a 43-year-old man from Leamington Spa who was driving a Ford Ka, was also taken to Northampton General with a serious leg injury. A 23-year-old Worksop man who was driving a Ford Fiesta was uninjured.
Police say that the BMW, which was travelling towards Daventry, is believed to have been overtaking the Ford Fiesta when it was in collision with the Ford Ka travelling in the opposite direction. The accident occurred close to the junction of Flecknoe Lane at 6.40pm. PC Jack Parker is appealing for witnesses to contact him on 01926 415000.
