CHILDREN at a Worcester school have been collecting presents to send to youngsters in Eastern Europe.

Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes can be found all around St Mary's Convent School, in Mount Battenhall.

Children were asked to fill the shoe-boxes with gifts such as teddy bears, crayons and basic essentials.

"St Mary's is well known for its involvement in charities," said headteacher Bridget Williams.

"The girls are actively taught to have an unselfish concern for others."

Operation Christmas Child is organised by The Samaritans.
