THE Act of Remembrance took place at the Callow End War Memorial on Sunday afternoon. Men of the Powick & Callow End Branch of the Royal British Legion marched to the War Memorial with standard bearer John Mason carrying the standard escorted by Trevor Barry and John Bartlett. The words of the Homage were delivered by Bill Haywood, and a poppy wreath was laid on behalf of Legion members by David Brickell, and on behalf of the County Council by Coun Tom Wells. The trumpeter sounded Last Post and Reveille. A service followed in St James' Church where the Rev David Nichol led and readings were by Bernard Blower and Trevor Barry. The county chaplain, Canon John Champion was the guest preacher. Refreshments were later provided at the Bush Inn.
On Saturday, November 17 the Royal British Legion's annual branch dinner & dance is being held in Callow End Village Hall.
Book the date of Saturday, December 1 for the community fair to be held in Callow End Village Hall from 2pm-4pm. There will be various stalls selling crafts, cards, jewellery etc plus a raffle. Contact Mrs M Harris 01905 830628 or Mrs M Charles 01905 830487 to book a table to sell goods. All proceeds are in aid of the village hall funds.
Don't forget to support St Richard's Hospice by attending the coffee morning tomorrow (Saturday) in the Blue Bell Inn from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Cakes, raffle and bric-a-brac for sale.
