MARK Steadman step-ped in to partner Chubb Campbell in the first round of the Broadway Winter League and the duo carried off the honours.
Graham Keen is usually Campbell's partner, but a pre-planned holiday in Kenya prevented him taking part in the first round.
But at the half-way stage of the competition everything was going to plan for the new pairing and a score in the region of 40 points looked in order.
Stedman, not noted for his prowess from close range, suddenly started chipping in from all over the place.
The resulting score of 46 points has earned Campbell a handicap reduction to two and Keen, who has not yet played a shot, to six.
In second place came the seasoned pairing of Bob Lord and Nigel Bird (44 points) with Lionel Griffin and the in-form Derek Butler in third spot on 43 points, just beating Mike Hitchcock and Malcolm Scarsbrook on countback.
In the re-arranged Turkey Foursomes, postponed due to adverse weather, John Skinner and Derek Butler storm-ed to victory.
