THE Malvern Hills Inter Club Indoor Bowls League got underway last weekend the facility otherwise having been fully operational for general leagues and roll ups since late September.
The Inter Club League has six clubs entered from the surrounding district and play is on either a Saturday or Sunday and spectators are welcome. Each team fields a side of five rinks of triples and at the end of the season will see the winning club taking £500, the runners-up £300 and the third team £100 - so competition is quite keen. On Saturday evening Eastnor entertained Gloucester but failed to make their usual good start losing by four shots to ten. Their two winning rinks skipped by P Merredy and Val Pedlingham gained the four points.
On Sunday evening Ledbury entertained Malvern Hills but were not at their best winning on only one rink skipped by N Douse. Malvern Hills managed to win all the other four rinks with the best skipped by the Club's captain Bill Douglass 31-17.
The Hills took 12 points to two.
