TEA towels emblazoned with views from Hanley Swan and Hanley Castle are winging their way to all corners of the globe.

Designed by June Firkins, of Gilbert's End, they are being sold to raise funds for the refurbishment of Hanley Swan Village Hall, which was built as a memorial after the Second World War.

The souvenir towels have proved such a success since they went on sale at Hanley Swan Village Fete in the summer that people have been buying them to send to friends and relatives overseas.

"I've sold more than 200 since they went on sale and only the other day I had someone come in to pick up a dozen to send abroad," said Mrs Firkins.

"I've also sent some to my daughters in Toronto."

"They make really good Christmas gifts, they're only £3 each and you can stick them in an envelope and send them anywhere in the world for £1.50!"

The towels were designed using historic and interesting buildings and views of the Hanleys.

Burgundy, green or terracotta versions of the tea towel are available by telephoning 01684 310489.
