MEMBERS of Herefordshire Green Party were shocked and horrified by the tragic events of September 11 and would like to send their deep sympathy to the friends and relations of those killed that day.
However, we do not believe that taking the law into one's own hands in revenge is any more appropriate that it is when criminal attacks occur between individuals.
We believe the United Nations should be called in so that concerted international action can take place, whatever this may be.
This continued bombing is unethical and inhumane, as more innocent civilians are being killed and the country impoverished further. It will also tend to create antagonism among other peoples and states, and may lead to an escalation of violence.
All efforts should be made to reduce the violence and bring it to a quick end so the country can be helped to resume normality and the refugees can return home.
Nationally, the Green party has been in the forefront among those objecting to the bombing and Herefordshire Green party will support local events, which protest at the bombing of Afghanistan.
ANNE ADAMS, secretary, Herefordshire Green Party, Luston, Herefordshire.
