A ReSIDENT in Redland Road, Malvern Link, is calling for action after thousands of pounds' wor-th of damage was caused in an accident.

A parked car was shunted into a garden, demolishing a brick wall and narrowly missing the bay window of the house bey-ond. Several other cars were damaged during Tuesday night's incident.

A police spokesman said no charges will result, as it is being sorted out bet-ween the parties involved. No-one was injured.

But resident Brian Metcalf said neighbours were not surprised it had happened.

He said there are already concerns about traffic and parking, including lorries using it as a rat run.

He said: "In the last 12 months I have had my car written off by a heavy lorry, my second car's bumper scrapped by anot-her lorry, our pet cat run over, and a scuffle with a driver and his three passengers who drove their car the wrong way fast up Redland Road."

He said proposed traffic calming outside the nearby school will cause further problems, taking further car parking space.

"The school area is busy 40 weeks a year for two half-hour periods in the morning and afternoon, whereas I and my family, along with the other residents, use the road all the time."

He called for the closure of the Redland Road and Church Road junction.

A Worcestershire County Council spokesman said: "Residents have filled in questionnaires about the proposed measures outside the school and their views will be taken into account when a decision is taken."
