WORCESTER cruiserweight boxer Adam Cale will be fighting in front of an expected 2,000 sell-out capacity crowd tonight.
Cale will have the daunting task of overcoming Blackburn-based Gary Thompson at Preston Guild Hall.
"We've sold in excess of 1,800 tickets. There's been a good response from the box office - it could well be a sell-out," said Evesham-based promoter Mike Goodall.
Tottenham-born Goodall, who has been involved in promoting boxing since 1977, takes professional boxing back to Preston for the first time in a decade.
"Top of the bill is Preston boxer Paul Buttery, who meets Blackpool's Shane McClaren."
But Goodall is also expecting a good display from Cale, saying: "I believe that Adam will be an excellent opponent for Thompson. Being a local lad Gary, who has a big heart, should bring a lot of support with him."
"The public's response has been overwhelming, we have been pleasantly surprised how it has grabbed their imagination. There are still tickets available, but selling fast," said Goodall.
"Worcestershire's Adam Cale could well be fighting in front of a full house."
