BRENDAN Hackett has been put in temporary charge of Stourport Swifts following the sudden departure of Rod Brown and Gary Whild to Redditch United.
Player-coach Hackett had been expected to link up with Brown and Whild at the Valley Stadium, but the former Worcester City player has changed his mind and now hopes to stake a claim for the job on a permanent basis.
The experienced duo of Jan Mulders and Mark Dearlove will be assisting Hackett.
And after conceding 11 goals in their last two games Swifts will be looking for an improved defensive performance tomorrow against Bedworth United at Walshes Meadow in the Dr Martens Western Division (3pm).
The Greenbacks have lost just once away from home on their travels this season and also beat Tamworth in the league cup in midweek so Swifts will need to be on form.
Keeper Rob Clarke is doubtful after aggravating his long-standing groin injury in the Redditch cup match in midweek and Adrian Hipkins stands by to take his place.
Dearlove, who underwent keyhole surgery on his troublesome knee earlier in the week and Tim Langford, who has a stomach problem, are both ruled out for Swifts.
