OVER a decade on from the hey-day of Level 42 you might expect frontman Mark King to want to close the chapter on the past in favour of the solo path he had embarked on.
But the bass-player and voice of a band responsible for pop hits like Running In The Family and Lessons In Love is now unashamedly re-embracing the halycon days of the 1980s and early 1990s.
The new lease of life for his old band is down to the internet and King's understanding of supply and demand.
With a band that includes brother Nathan, the semi-retired bassist embarks on a short tour every year.
That brings him back to Huntingdon Hall on Sat-urday, November 24.
While Level 42 fans are reminded what a show led by the man who once had his hands insured for £3 million by Polydor Rec-ords is like, it also gives him the chance to distribute the bands material further afield.
Fans are invited to post requests for particular songs to be played at concerts on the band's website and the gigs are recorded for distribution to fans around the world.
"Every year I just get together a band and do a few gigs at jazz clubs in London and to make it worthwhile I do this little provincial tour," he says.
The gigs attract a mixture of old fans and potential new ones and he has little problem in rolling out the old favourites.
"I'm very happy to do that - it's my little role in life! We're not everybody's cup of tea but we're an antidote to Hearsay."
He adds: "It's a bit like rolling back the years."
The gig is at 8pm. Tickets are £22.50 from 01905 611427.
