The Pledge (15), directed by Sean Penn, is showing at Malvern Cinema for a week from tonight (Friday).
It stars Jack Nicholson as detective Jerry Black, who despite impending retirement swears to catch the man who raped and killed a young girl. But the consequences are unpredictable in this intense, mysterious and psychologically terrifying film.
It boasts a strong cast which includes Sam Shepherd, Benicio Del Toro, Helen Mirren, Vanessa Redgrave and Mickey Rourke.
The Pledge is on Friday-Sunday at 7pm, Monday-Thursday at 8pm, with 2pm matinees Saturday and Sunday.
In the Forum on Wednesday at 8.15pm is Merci Pour le Chocolat (Nightcap) (PG), a psychological thriller from one of France's most renowned directors, Claude Chabrol, starring Isabelle Huppert and Jacques Ditronc.
