BULL Allstars broke Kempsey United's unbeaten league record to move into top spot in the Malvern Football League last Sunday after winning by the odd goal in five.

On a good playing surface at Kempsey it was the home side who created a few opportunities in the opening minutes to take an early advantage, but the finishing touch was lacking. Bull Allstars, sensing their chances, then started to dominate the next 30 minutes and their first breakthrough came after 15 minutes when Mark Toman snuck the ball in from a tight angle to lead and on 28 minutes Toman again scored from close range to give them a 2-0 lead.

Towards the end of the first half Kempsey were beginning to cause some panic in the visitors defence, however a Paul James free-kick from 25 yards out gave Allstars a 3-0 half-time lead.

In the second half a more purposeful Kempsey side reduced the deficit on 50 minutes when Ryan Leigh scored after being awarded a penalty. The shot was saved by Glyn Morris but Leigh scored the rebound. On 70 minutes Neil Lindsey's left foot volley deflected past the helpless keeper to set a up a tense finale.

In virtually the last kick of the game a chance for United to draw level went begging as some indecision in the Allstars' defence allowed a looping shot to just pass over the crossbar. This win for Allstars sees them one point ahead of Kempsey, with Kempsey playing third placed Club AC 30 this Sunday, will there be more changes at the top?
