COLWALL'S second team travelled to Cheltenham with ten players for their match with Lansdown and came away with a 4-1 victory.
COLWALL 2ND XI 4, LANSDOWN 3RD XI 1
The second period of the match had to be shortened due to a delayed start, another match waiting to take the field and no floodlights!
Colwall were quick off the mark with a direct shot from Coral Handley. Coral soon added to this when she deflected a well struck free hit into the circle from Lucy Halligan. Lansdown made some dangerous breaks and were eventually rewarded with a goal.
Coral Handley then completed her hat-trick after a goal mouth scramble. The game went into half time 4-1 when Lucy Halligan scored from a solo run.
The second half saw Lansdown making some strong attacks but the Colwall defence held firm, led by Melinda Bennett, with goalie Carole Ward making some excellent saves. Young players Francesca Bamford, Sam and Jenny Shail had an excellent game and worked hard throughout.
Colwall 2nd XI have now won their first four league matches and are well placed with two matches in hand due to cancellations.
Tomorrow (Saturday) they are at home to Hereford 2nd XI.
