CARAVAN owners are being urged once more to step up security by police after another attempted theft in Worcestershire.

The warning comes after thieves tried to steal a caravan from the Malvern area, but failed.

The thieves broke down a hedge at the Riverside Caravan Park, Clevelode, in an attempt to steal a beige five-berth caravan, valued at £3,000.

Heavy mud in the area caused the caravan to become stuck and the thieves escaped with nothing.

The attempted theft, which took place over the night of Saturday, November 10, follows a number of caravan thefts from Evesham and Malvern.

Four vans have been stolen from Sedgeberrow, Church Lench, Wickamford and Lenchwick, all near Evesham, and two from the Hall Green and Ockeridge areas of Malvern during the past few weeks.

"It would appear an organised criminal is stealing caravans to order, from drives in the south Worcestershire area," said PC Dave Weaver.

"I'd urge people with caravans to increase their security following this spate of thefts."

Anyone with information about the theft of caravans in the area should contact police on 01905 723888 or ring Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
