CHARGES have been temporarily reduced at Worcester's George Street car park while a nearby parking development takes place.
Tallow Hill car park, which is soon to be refurbished, will boast CCTV, new lighting and surfacing when work is complete.
Councillors decided to reduce charges at George Street car park from £3.30 a day to £1.70 a day to compensate customers who usually park at Tallow Hill.
"The new Tallow Hill car park will be properly surfaced and have CCTV," said Andy Walford, principal engineer at Worcester City Council.
"It will be a secure car park but it has to be closed while it is developed.
"Parking charges at George Street will therefore be cheaper because of the upheaval and the dust at Tallow Hill."
He added the car park at George Street would only exist until the Tallow Hill development was finished.
"The George Street site will then close for good," he said.
