A PERSHORE school has won an award in recognition of an ongoing project.
Abbey Park First School's Outdoor Learning Project has won the school £200 from the National Confederation of Parent Teacher Associations.
The organisation has highlighted the project for a Good Practice Award.
"I'm delighted we've won national recognition," said headteacher Sue Mason.
"Pupils, parents, staff, our Friends Society and other members of the local community, have all played an active role in the project.
"The children have become involved in it in a fun and interesting way that compliments the National Curriculum."
The project aims to improve the outdoor environment at the school in a way that stimulates learning and social interaction through play.
The completed project will provide play equipment, seats, painted surfaces for games and environmental areas.
"We were particularly impressed by the way that pupils have been involved in every stage of the project," said David Butler, director of the NCPTA.
"The introduction of Playground Patrollers - pupils who make playtimes happier for everyone - is an idea that other schools might like to consider."
